11 Best Pizza Restaurants in Huntsville

The Boot Pizzeria

The Boot is a bit of a hidden gem in Huntsville. If you’ve never been, I’d definitely recommend it. I found out about it by winning a free pizza from calling into a local radio station.

They have some of the most unique pizzas in Huntsville, with options like Smoked Duck, Smoked Salmon, and Eggplant Parmigiana pizza. The Boot also serves a wide variety of appetizers, salads, and desserts.

I’m not too adventurous when it comes to pizza, so I can’t say I’ve tried any of the options mentioned above, but I have tried the Bottomless Pit Pizza and it’s delicious. It comes with a few different smoked meats, brown sugar, spicy red peppers, and is topped with BBQ sauce!

One other unique thing about The Boot is that they offer cooking classes! I’ve never tried it, but I know my wife would love it. So I probably need to sign us up!

I’ve been to Sam and Greg’s many times over the years. It’s one of my favorite spots to eat in Downtown Huntsville and serves some delicious hand-tossed pizza.

Tip from a Local: Be sure to try the gelato while you’re there! It’s delicious!

I’ve tried a handful of different Sam and Greg’s pizzas over the years. I think my favorite is the Meat Lovers Pizza, but my wife likes the Pesto Margarita Pizza.

Mellow Mushroom has been in town for a while now and has become a go-to pizza spot for me. The service is always great and the pizza is so good! I typically order the Mighty Meaty Pizza, but I’ve also had the Buffalo Chicken Pizza and it’s a great option too.

Pizza aside, there are also some great decorations inside! If you haven’t been, the walls are colorful, there are mushroom dudes everywhere, and each restaurant has a theme.

For example, the Jones Valley location is outdoors/camping themed. They even have a camper that you can eat inside of!

I’ve only ever been to the Jones Valley Mellow Mushroom, but they also have one in Providence. If you’re looking for some of the best pizza in Huntsville, I’d definitely add Mellow Mushroom to your list.

Grimaldi’s is one of the newer pizza restaurants in Huntsville, and it’s quickly becoming one of my favorites.

It’s located in Jones Valley, which is close to where I live, so I’ve been a handful of times. Their pizza is cooked in a coal-fired brick oven, which gives it a great taste.

They have a handful of specialty pizzas, but I usually build my own when I go. I typically like to load mine up with a few different meats.

I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ve heard good things about their White with Garlic Pizza, so I’ll have to try that next time I go and report back.

Pizza aside, Grimaldi’s is super spacious inside and it’s in a great location. It’s the perfect spot to meet friends or bring the whole family to enjoy some of the best pizza in Huntsville.

It’s located in Downtown Huntsville on Church Street and is attached to the Huntsville Museum of Art. It also has outdoor seating that overlooks Big Spring Park.

Tip From a Local: Due to it’s downtown location, Pane E Vino usually has a wait if you just walk up and put your name down. So be sure to call ahead or make a reservation online before you go!

The food is great, but the experience is even better. It’s in the heart of Downtown Huntsville and eating dinner while looking at Big Spring Park is just hard to beat!

If you’ve lived in Huntsville for a long time, you’ve probably heard of Terry’s Pizza. It’s one of the most iconic pizza restaurants in Huntsville.

Terry’s first opened in Huntsville in 1959 and quickly became a local staple. However, Terry passed away in 2005 and the family decided to shut down the business.

Fast forward a few years and Star Market Owner Darden Heritage decided to buy the rights and re-open the pizza joint.

Local Fact: Terry’s Pizzas are also sold inside Star Market!

Now located on Bailey Cove, Terry’s still serves the same great pizza, just in a different location.

If you’ve never been, you can’t go wrong with the Sticky Fingers or Sausage Lover’s pizza.

Big Ed’s

Besides having some of the best pizza in Huntsville, Big Ed’s also wins the award for having one of the most unique buildings in town.

If you’ve driven down Pratt Avenue before, you’ve probably noticed it. It’s the building with a ton of windows and a big red roof. Growing up I used to call it the alien building. Not really sure why, but it always reminded me of aliens!

Anyways, aside from an awesome building, they have amazing pizza too! It’s cooked in a gas oven from the 60s and all the dough is handmade.

My favorite order is the Dough Dippers for an appetizer and the Meat-Licious pizza. If you don’t normally order appetizers, the Dough Dipperes are definitely worth the extra money!

  • 255 Pratt Ave NW

If you live near Gurley, you’ve probably of DJ’s Pizza. If you don’t then you probably haven’t…. but you should. It’s a hidden gem located off of Ryland Pike.

My dad actually introduced me to this local pizza joint a few years ago. It’s got a small-town feel and a thin crust that you’re going to want to try.

It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but it definitely worth a try if you’re looking for some of the best pizza in Huntsville.

I’d suggest trying the DJ’s Special, but there are tons of great options on the menu.

Venice Pizza

Quick confession: I’ve never actually been to Venice Pizza, but my wife told me that it’s a must-add. It was a childhood staple for her, and she would pick up some pizza from Venice’s on their way to visit her Mimi in Madison.

Word on the street is that the Venice Supreme and the 4 Cheese pizza are solid options. Though, looking at the menu, the Meat Deluxe sounds like a great option too!

The building won’t catch your eye and is easy to miss, but next time you’re headed out toward Madison, it’s worth a visit! My wife promises that you won’t regret it! And if she says it, then it must be true!
