Sandra Moon Community Complex
Hands down, one of the best pickleball courts in Huntsville is at Sandra Moon. It’s located at the old Grissom High School, behind the new library.
There are 12 outdoor courts that are all fenced off, which is nice because it keeps you from chasing too far after your ball. It also has overhead lighting, allowing you to play into the evening hours.
If you live in South Huntsville, this is definitely the best place to play pickleball.
Shurney Legacy Center
Another great spot to play pickleball in Huntsville is at the Shurney Legacy Center. It has 3 outdoor courts that are fenced and have overhead lighting.
Even better, there are also 3 indoor courts for when the weather gets cold.
When you’re done, be sure to stop by the North Huntsville Public Library, too!
Just a hop, skip, and jump outside of Huntsville is Dublin Park, located in Madison. This outdoor pickleball court offers four top-notch courts.
Smooth playing surfaces and a competitive environment make this a fantastic spot for matches. And yep, you guessed it – it’s named after the Irish heritage that we love in Madison.
If you live outside of Huntsville, another great place to play pickleball is Town Madison. The courts are near the YMCA and BJ’s Wholesale Club off of Wall Triana.
In October 2023, the City of Madison expanded the area to include 12 lighted courts, giving plenty of space to play.
So if you’re looking for the best pickleball courts in Madison, this is a great option.
John Hunt Park
While it’s not open at the time of writing, the City of Huntsville announced in October 2022 that new pickleball courts will be coming to John Hunt Park!
The new 53,000-square-foot recreation center will include outdoor pickleball courts, along with four-size gyms, office space, and more.
The project is set to be finished in Spring 2024 and will definitely be some of the best pickleball courts in Huntsville!

If you’ve never been to that Mark Russell Recreational Center, you should definitely stop by sometime!
Fern Bell Recreation Center
For those who live in South Huntsville, Fern Bell is a great spot to play pickleball. It’s located off Whitesburg Drive and is a nice indoor facility to play at.
Not only is it one of the best pickleball courts in town, but there are 3 different courts to play on, which will limit your time waiting around.
Even better, when you’re done, you’re only a short drive away from Little Rosies, which is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in town!
If you’re looking for a more experienced player and are looking for some good competition, you’ll want to head to Optimist Park.
It’s definitely one of the most competitive pickleball courts in Huntsville and is where the more experienced players hang out.

Huntsville Madison County Senior Center
For older players, one of the best pickleball courts in Huntsville is located at the Senior Center off Drake Avenue.
While there is only one court available, it’s a great spot for older players because you must be 60+ to play there.
This will ensure a great atmosphere that isn’t too competitive for those who are just looking to get some exercise and enjoy playing pickleball.
