One of my favorite things to do in the summer and early fall is visit some of the local farmers markets in Huntsville! There is just something about walking around in the sunshine with an iced coffee from a local vendor in hand and freshly baked goods tucked in the bag over my shoulder.

I have visited many Huntsville farmers’ markets and have purchased delicious sweets, fresh eggs, jewelry, and more from some of these local vendors. My kids enjoy taking the trip with me because if they are lucky “the popsicle lady” will be there and they can get one.

Here are our picks for the best farmers markets in Huntsville!

5 Best Farmers Markets in Huntsville, Alabama

Huntsville’s farmers markets are not to be missed! Check out Madison City’s market for varied goods or Madison County’s for fresh produce. If weekdays are better, S&J Produce is a great choice. Don’t forget about the Market at MidCity, Villages of Providence, and the Greene Street Market downtown too. Here are our picks for the best farmers markets in Huntsville.

Madison City Farmers Market

First on the list is a personal favorite of mine and one that I frequent regularly, the Madison City Farmers Market. It’s located on Hughes Road beside Trinity Baptist Church and is open Saturdays from 9 am to 12 pm from April to November.

I love the Madison City Farmers Market! You will find vendors that mostly sell meats, farm-fresh eggs, and baked goods. Other non-food items I’ve seen sold there this season are pottery, plants, and a booth selling any and all Lavender scented items.

One of the best things I’ve gotten is an iced coffee from Rooster Crew Coffee Brewery to sip on while browsing. I’ve also picked up a Hot Tamale from Hippea Camper, which is a must-try.

If you’re looking for one of the best farmers markets in Huntsville, then this one has to be on your list.

Greene Street Market

Perhaps one of the most well-known farmers markets in Huntsville, Greene Street Market is a must-visit. It’s located just off of the Downtown Square in Huntsville and is open Thursdays from 4 pm to 8 pm during market season.

You’ll find tons of local food vendors selling desserts, vegetables, and baked goods, along with local makers selling soaps, pottery, and artwork. Oh, and there is usually some type of live music too!

S&J Produce

If you live closer to Madison, then you’re probably familiar with S&J Produce, off Highway 72 near Clift Farms. They sell the same fresh produce that other farmers markets have but are open on weekdays.

Plus, if you want a snack, they do offer some awesome fruit slushes. They even have a few events throughout the year like pumpkin and sunflower picking.

Villages of Providence Farmers Market

The Villages of Providence farmers market is located at Providence Village in Huntsville and is open every Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm during market season. They have most of the vendors that you’d expect to find at a market, but they also have raffles, demonstrations, and farm animal visits.

I loved this one because it is set up in the grassy area between all the stores and restaurants and once you are done at the market, you can still walk around the area and enjoy some time with yourself or with your family.

Market at MidCity

Another great farmers market in Huntsville that I recently went to is the Market at Midcity. It’s only open on Sundays from 12 pm through 4 pm during market season but it’s so much fun!

Vendors include farmers, artists, and musicians. One thing I like most about the Market at Midcity is the variety of booths. There was something new to enjoy at each one.

Make sure to make time to walk and enjoy it! After walking around all the vendors, check out the Camp at Mid-City and grab some coffee at the Greenroom.

Madison County Farmers Market

Another Huntsville farmers market that’s only open on Saturday mornings is the Madison County Farmers Market. Located off Cook Avenue, this one is open Wednesay-Saturday from 8 am until 4 pm.

The Madison County Farmers Market is an inside market, making it perfect for hot days.

I’ve been here a few times and loved the variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, fresh greens, and more. If you’re looking for fresh produce and homegrown greens, the Madison County Farmers Market is one of the best in town.

We have a ton of amazing vendors, makers, and musicians at the various markets in the Rocket City. While we’ve assembled a list of some of the best farmers markets in Huntsville, the only way to know which one you like the best is to visit them for yourself!
